What Does This Pathway Look Like
The Pearson’s BTEC Level 3 Education and Training Award will provide sufficient evidence so that you acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions, in a variety of teaching or training contexts. Delivered in Year 2, this pathway is supported by a specific tutor online and consists of approximateley 48 total guided learning hours and self-directed study.

- Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
- Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
- Understanding Assessment in Education and Training
Assessments:
- Three written assignments
- One micro teaching session (which can be submitted as a recorded video)
The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Education and Training Certificate prepares trainee teachers and trainers to teach in a wide range of contexts. To achieve the qualification, there is a requirement for teaching practice that requires observation and assessment of performance. The qualification can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers and trainers with a total of 140 guided learning hours plus self-directed study. This programme requires completion of the Level 3 Education and Training Award and will be delivered in Year 3 of your degree.

Assessments:
Each unit has specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria. To pass an internally assessed unit, you must provide adequate evidence to meet all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
If you undertake the Learning and Development optional units you will be required to provide evidence from your own work-based practice in order to meet the criteria. Types of evidence could be: direct observation by assessor; personal statements and/or reflective accounts; professional discussion; assignments; expert witness testimony.
Who Is This Pathway For?
- Students who are not currently teaching but who can meet the practice requirements.
- Students who are currently teaching or have just begun.
- Students who currently work as assessors.
What Is the Cost?
Both the Level 3 and Level 4 BTEC in Education and Training are delivered free of charge. By choosing this route, travel and accommodation expenses on the face-to-face weeks within the degree programme are not reimbursed.
